In my 21 years of life on this earth, I’ve been fortunate enough to have done quite a bit of travelling. I have had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, England, Switzerland, India, Dubai, and many more exciting places. What I have taken away from my extensive travels is that given the opportunity, you should travel as much as you can. Having said that, below are some reasons why I believe everyone should take as much time as they can to explore our wonderful world.

You’re pushed out of your comfort zone

Travelling always brings about opportunities to push yourself out of your comfort zone, whether it’s trying new and unusual food, trying something thrilling (like zip lining), or even just getting on an airplane. When at home, you’re in a comfortable daily routine, and it can be terrifying to think about steering away from it. However, being immersed in a new surrounding with completely new people with a completely different culture, gives you the chance to grow and learn about others as well as yourself.

You develop a better appreciation for cultures other than your own

Immersing yourself into a completely different culture may just be the best part about travelling. It helps us realize that despite our differences, we connect with others across the globe. These experiences also help you to be more open-minded and tolerant. When you’re in a new culture, you learn to see things you may have always known to be true from different points of view. This broadens your perspective and helps you to be more knowledgeable in the decisions you make and the actions you take.

You reduce stress and gain more enthusiasm for life

Above all, travelling is just a fun time. It’s enjoyable, exciting, and allows you to take a break. We all lead stressful and busy lives, and often tend to think there’s no time to stop and take a breather. But breaking out of your daily routine and gaining new experiences will allow you to come back to your tasks with a clearer mind and maybe even a fresh outlook. We all deserve breaks, and there’s no better way to lift your spirits than travelling to a new destination.
