Ah, the holidays. A time for connecting with family and friends, eating lots of food, and forgetting about school. Getting back into your regular routine after the holiday break can be difficult. You’re used to sleeping in and spending your days relaxing instead of studying. When the next semester rolls around, set yourself up for success. Here’s how to get out of holiday mode.

Find Something to Look Forward To

Finding something to look forward to can help you motivate yourself to get back into school mode. Maybe you’re really excited for one of the courses you are taking this semester, maybe you’re going to join a new club this term, or maybe you’re just looking forward to the next long weekend. Whatever it is, use your excitement to motivate yourself to get back into school mode.

Set Goals and Stick to Them

One of the things I find that motivates me most is goal setting. Goals can be as simple as aiming for a certain grade in a class or adding an extra day of working out to your schedule. Choose a goal that you’re motivated and excited to complete and stick to it. Completing goals will keep you motivated for the new semester.

Start Slow

Getting back into school mode is much easier when you take it slow. Try waking up 15 minutes earlier every day until you’re back into your routine. When it comes to school work, try getting the smaller, simpler tasks done first. This way, you can check lots of things off your to-do list and feel accomplished.

I hope these tips help you get back into your routine and succeed this year.
